Drop-in Sketching: Remembrance

Have you ever wished you could use the Royal Alberta Museum’s collections for sketching inspiration? Now’s your chance! We'll be showcasing rarely seen museum objects to create a still-life setup for you to practice your drawing skills.

This month, in honour of Veterans’ Week, we will be displaying objects with a theme of remembrance. There will be a range of objects: a peace dove, military uniforms, badges, medals, gas masks, poppies, trench art, and more.

Call for applications to 2026 Studio Residency Program

The CAAF Studio Residency is offered by the Calgary Allied Art Foundation (CAAF). CAAF’s aim is to support emerging artists to reach their full potential. By providing space and funding, the CAAF Studio Residency enables emerging artists to further explore their creative practice and take advantage of future exhibition opportunities that CAAF can provide. Artists are also encouraged to share their process and engage with the community during their residencies.

New Routes: threads across space and time

New Routes: threads across space and time reflects Raneece Buddan, AJA Louden, Garfield Morgan, and Elsa Robinson’s investigations of how their paths as diasporic people connect their distinct artistic practices. The four artists share certain relationships to place: they all have Jamaican heritage and lived in Edmonton at the same time. Yet each of them has distinct personal and ancestral immigration stories that led to Treaty 6 territory.
