Overview  

This two-week immersive residency offers individual dancers the opportunity to explore and embody the unique choreographic languages of three internationally acclaimed dance artists - Kirsten Wicklund, Marie Gyselbrecht, and Cyril Baldy.

Participants will rotate through choreographic labs with each faculty artist, taking part in daily technique and improvisation classes that support embodied exploration.

ADVANCED Vibes – Hip Hop Choreography Class - Thursdays at 7:30PM
Elevate your groove with VibeTribeYYC in this choreography-based Hip Hop class designed for experienced dancers, but open to all ages and abilities! Dive into musicality, performance, and pure VIBES in a soulful, high-energy environment that challenges and inspires. Show up, vibe out, and take your performance to the next level.

INTER VIBES: Intermediate Hip Hop Choreography Class – Wednesdays at 7:15PM

Join VibeTribeYYC for a choreography-based Hip Hop class designed for intermediate dancers, but open to all ages and abilities! Build your confidence, deepen your musicality, and grow your movement vocabulary in a supportive, high-energy environment. Whether you're leveling up your skills or getting back into the groove, this class is all about learning how to learn—together.

You’re invited to join the Royal Alberta Museum at 2 pm on April 27 as they celebrate the arrival of Ukrainian Voice: A Legacy Mosaic.

This community celebration begins at 2 pm with brief remarks from Mosaic artist and project lead Larisa Sembaliuk Cheladyn, followed by a live performance by Edmonton’s Viter Ukrainian Dancers and Folk Choir. Join in as we proudly pay tribute to this project and legacy of Ukrainian people in Alberta, and Canada.

The festival promises to be a vibrant celebration of Ukrainian dance, showcasing the immense talent, creativity, and dedication within our community.

GWDC’s Space Share Program provides free rehearsal space and mentorship to performance-based artists and collectives. Space Share artists will engage in some form of community outreach during their time at the Shumka Dance Centre, so watch out for updates on possible showings, workshops and blog posts from this fantastic group of artists!

The Thousand Faces Festival Association welcomes  artists and groups from all disciplines to submit proposals for inclusion of their mythically-inspired performances, films, and visual works at the 2025 Thousand Faces Festival.

Established in 1978 by the Clifford E. Lee Foundation, the award supports the creation and development of innovative choreographic work.
